Those better not be men

Hey, remember the 80s?

I do, sorta. Remember Adam Curry, the blonde lanky VJ dude? He’s some kinda dot-com millionaire, and he has a blog. The blog is mildly interesting, but the best part is his collection of stories about his MTV days:

Apparently Ozzie was trying to communicate to us that his problem was larger than he could handle, and a few seconds later I looked up to see Ozzie standing spread eagle in the ilse, with a huge dark spot in his crotch area and a growing pool of urine at his feet.

Curry was a fairly forward-thinkin dude back in the day. I remember the tussle he had with MTV over mtv.com when I was in college.

DBForms2 reaches its first milestone

My major outside-of-work project is a rewrite of DBForms, called DBForms2. I just finished getting the new version to a state where it actually kinda functions: you can add, edit, and delete database entries in your application. It’s still really, really early, but it does work, and that’s gratifying.

Football

As you may know, I really really like Pro Football. So today was exciting, because we had the games which determined who would play in next week’s SuperBowl.

I’ve gotten to the point where I can appreciate a good game and a good team without liking or disliking either of the teams involved. Nevertheless, I do tend to favor one team over the other to some extent, especially when the stakes are as high as they were this week. Unfortunately, both my preferred teams (the Tennessee Titans and the Philadelphia Eagles) lost.

Still, I can’t say I’m upset that the teams that won (the Raiders and the Buccaneers) will be in the SuperBowl. Gruden leaving the Raiders and then meeting them the next year in the SuperBowl is just too interesting. This will be a good game, although if I were a betting man, I’d put my money on silver and black — they just seem like a more complete team.

My host eats it

Funkatron.com is hosted on HostRocket. In general they’re pretty decent, but they’re got some problems with their cgi stuff. As I’ve stated before, you really want to run Movable Type with a cgi wrapper, because if you don’t, you have to leave some directories world-writable. HostRocket has a cgi wrapper, but there are some problems with it that cause MT to throw 500 Internal Server Errors from time to time (like when anyone tries to post a comment). Can anyone recommend a better inexpensive host that supports MT better?
