LameBrain v0.2.0 released
LameBrain v0.2.0, the latest release of the LAME front-end VersionTracker regulars can’t get enough of, is now available for download. This version includes LAME 3.93.1, and supports loading and saving of encoding settings as “profiles.” As always, feedback is greatly appreciated.
Back in business
It appears they problem was with my power supply, because as soon as I plugged-in the PS at work, I got my friendly green light and all was better. This pleases me, because it means I don’t have to part with my precious Powerbook. This also kinda miffs me, because the PS that failed was only like a month old — Apple sent us a replacement when the insulation split up by the plug.

Curse thee, Powerbook!
So something went wonky with my Powerbook, either in the power supply or the power plug in the machine itself, because it wouldn’t take any power when plugged-in. So now I’ve got two empty batteries and a dead machine. Hopefully it’s just a dead PS, which I can easily replace at work tomorrow. If not, the machine will probably need to be sent back to Apple.
You don’t realize just how valuable a portable computer is until you suddenly have it taken from you. The flexibility of being able to go anywhere in our home and be online is super, super nice, especially with a 3 month old. I also am peeved because without my Powerbook, I can’t do anything with OS X, which means LameBrain dev is stalled for the time being.
This will probably be a good exercise for me.

George likes his chicken spicy!
If you use Movable Type and are on OS X, you have to check out Kung-Log, a really smooth desktop app that lets you administrate your blog without using a web browser. I definitely like writing posts in it better than the web interface, and by using it I bypass all the stupid problems my host has with their CGI install.
