Fonts for programming
TextMate on OS X has me completely spoiled, and I really really miss a good text editor on Windows. Much of it has to do with aesthetics, and the fact that the monospaced fonts on Windows suck ass. Thankfully, I found a cool page that collects links to a bunch of programming-oriented fonts, which will help me escape from the crappiness of Courier New. The TextMate Wiki also has a good page on alternative fonts for people who are sick of Monaco on OS X (although Monaco is much better than any monospaced font that ships with Windows).
The fonts I’m digging are:
- DejaVu Sans Mono (has native bold and italic)
- ProFont
- ProggyClean
- MonteCarlo (the bitmap .fon version)
- Triskweline (the bitmap .fon version)
- Anonymous
Also of note is this insanity.
